About the School

The first MovingSchool opened its doors the 20th of March 2001.

Today there are 7 schools all situated along the Tiracol River.

There are 220 registered pupils between ages 5-12 years evenly distributed between boys and girls. The schools can each accommodate 25 pupils per class. In the present time there is only one class per day per school.

These children have never before received any formal education, and it has been a huge task just to teach them the conduct of this unknown world. School hours are from 8.30 AM to 4 PM including half an hour lunch break from Monday to Friday, Saturday is a half day only.

The teachers are well educated and will talk as well as write the children’s mother language, Kanada which is spoken in the state of Karnataka.

The Schools are organized under the Indian NGO system and has a local support group consisting of an engineer, a lawyer and an accountant who all contribute their knowledge and time without receiving any payment.
